The Swift Current Midget Indians upset one of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Premier Baseball League’s top teams at home Tuesday.

Zac Mackay and the Midget Indians downed the Regina Athletics 7-2 to improve to 12-11 on the season.

Mackay tied for the league lead with his seventh win of the season, allowing five hits and one earned run over 6-1/3 innings, walking two, and striking out seven. Mackay now leads all SPBL pitchers with 56 strikeouts this season.

Colton Heffley swatted a two-run home run, his first of the season, in the fifth inning, and struck out the only two batters he faced to seal the win in the seventh inning.

Hayden Johnston finished two-for-three at the plate, including a two-run double to score Reid Fritzke and Mackay before scoring on the Heffley home run.

The Indians will be back in action Wednesday when they visit the Regina Mets (7-15).
