KINKORA, P.E.I. – The Parrsboro Braves won the Somerset Festival Peewee AA baseball title here last weekend.

Teams competing in the event included Bedeque, Summerside, Northside, Kensington and Parrsboro.

The opening game on Friday night saw the Braves defeat Bedeque 18-8, led by three doubles and a single from Connor Hoeg, and singles from Logan Legere, Seth Lake, Kolby Benjamin and Ethan Allen. Riley McCulley had a double, while Matt Morris and Nick Leopold each had singles. Game MVP was Connor Hoeg, while Logan Legere, Seth Lake, Noah Perrin and Grayson MCrindle were winning pitchers.

The Braves lost their next game, 11-8 to Northside on Saturday. Seth Lake homered and singled, Connor Hoeg had two doubles, Riley McCulley had two singles, and Kolby Benjamin, Ethan Allen and Nick Leopold each had singles. Game MVP was Seth Lake. Kolby Benjamin, Noah Perrin, Riley McCulley, Matt Morris and Ethan Allen shared pitching duties.

The final round-robin game was against Kensington, which resulted in a 12-5 loss to the Braves, but the first time in the tournament that a team took Kensington the distance.

Seth Lake tripled, doubled and singled, while Connor Hoeg doubled and had two singles. Noah Perrin, Logan Legere, Grayson McCrindle and Matt Morris had singles. Ethan Allen was game MVP. Grayson McCrindle, Ethan Allen, Noah Perrin and Nick Leopold shared pitching duties.

The third place round-robin finish pitted the Braves in a rematch semi-final with Northside on Sunday morning, with the winner to face the powerful Kensington team in the finals. The Braves seized this opportunity and beat Northside 16-12. Connor Hoeg had four singles, Seth Lake doubled and had two singles, Riley McCulley and Grayson McCrindle had three singles each. Ethan Allen had two singles, while singles also came from Kolby Benjamin, Matt Morris and Nick Leopold. Game MVP was Matt Morris. Winning pitchers were Kolby Benjamin, Riley McCulley, Seth Lake and Matt Morris.

The Sunday afternoon final saw the Braves beat overcome the previously undefeated Kensington favourites by a close 8-6 score. Connor Hoeg had a double and three singles, Seth Lake had three singles, and Kolby Benjamin and Grayson McCrindle had two singles each. Game MVP was Grayson McCrindle. Winning pitchers were Seth Lake, Matt Morris and Riley McCulley.

Tournament MVP was Connor Hoeg.

Team members are Noah Perrin, Logan Legere, Seth Lake, Connor Hoeg, Kolby Benjamin, Riley Mccully, Grayson Mccrindle, Ethan Allen, Matt Morris, Nick Leopold and batboy Tucker Legere. Coaches are Matt Hoeg, Daryl Bradbury and Kevin Mccrindle.
