Andy Chase singled Brian Urquhart in for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh in Game 2 against Fredericton for a 3-2 victory after topping the Twins 3-1 in the opener at Elk Park.
Randy Frame went the distance for the win with eight strikeouts while allowing five hits. He helped his cause with a double and a single while Urquhart and Joel Isenor both ripped doubles. Chris Hopewell added a single.
Edan Welch had two hits for Fredericton while Peter Mersereau was tagged with the loss allowing eight hits while striking out four.
Mersereau was also the loser in Game 1 collecting seven strikeouts while surrendering five hits.
Urquhart fanned five and scattered three hits for the victory. He also added a sacrifice bunt for the Elks while Chase led the offence with an inside the park home run. Jack Roop, Patrick Stewart, Chipper VanTassell and Isenor all singled.
Brookfield dropped a 5-0 decision to Charlottetown in their second game Saturday.
Frame suffered the loss despite striking out six and allowing five hits. Chase was 3-for-4 while Stewart, VanTassell, Roop and Frame all singled.
Mike Bishop claimed the win by striking out seven Elks hitters and allowing seven hits. Steve Bishop and Cory Gregory both doubled for Fawcetts.
The Elks opened with a 1-0 setback.
Urquhart lost while allowing just four hits in seven innings and striking out six. VanTassell doubled and Chase bunted his way on base.
Mitch Hardy was the winner collecting 14 strikeouts and giving up just three hits.
The Elks are in action again this weekend at a tournament in P.E.I.
