AMHERST - The Cubs maintained their perfect record last night and in the process eliminated the Lions from the first round of the Little League playoffs.
The Cubs will meet the winners of the Y's Guys, Mixers series, while the Lions will go on to play the losing side of that series.
Right now the Mixers and Y's Guys sit at one game apiece with the final game of the three game series taking place Monday night.
In the Cubs 7-2 win over the Lions it was Joey O'Dell playing the role of hero by smacking out two home runs. Logan Dowe batted two singles for the Cubs and Brandon Greeno and Matt McCrossin each hit out a single.
Besides his power at the plate, O'Dell also powered his way through five innings of stellar pitching. His arm was on fire as he gave up one hit, two walks and struck out a total of 11 batters.
Matthew Hunter came in in the final inning as relief for O'Dell, giving up one hit, on walk and striking out one batter.

Belyea pitched five innings, giving up five hits, five walks and striking out four batters. Tyler Landry came in for relief in the sixth inning and gave up a hit and two walks.
