AMHERST?- Carl Jamieson, the Wallace native who is one of Canada's leading harness racing trainers, reported Wednesday that one of his star performers is facing a life and death situation.
Jamieson says Roberts Rage, a pacer with a best time of 1:52.2 and winnings of $443,282, may be humanely euthanized unless his health takes a turn for the better. He was one of last year's premier two-year-old pacing colts.
"About three weeks ago he had a lump on his jaw which was treated with antibiotics. He had a reaction and his system became toxic," explained Jamieson, who shares ownership with three Ontario clients,'
"The insurance company has given its approval to put him to sleep but I'm giving him every chance to come around but it does not look good." said Jamieson, who says the three-year-old has lost about 400 pounds.
Roberts Rage is a member of Jamieson's Dream Team that included his two other sophomore contenders Breeders Crown winner Santanna Blue Chip and Legacy N Diamonds.
