Ramblers dump Caps 7-3

The Ramblers sniper squadron was shooting with uncanny accuracy against Summerside, wracking up seven unanswered goals in the first two periods.

But it was in the third period the Ramblers began to falter, letting in three unanswered goals of their own.

In the end it was Amherst Ramblers defeating the Western Capitals by a score of 7-3 at Amherst Stadium on Saturday night.

The first period was penalty filled for the Capitals but for the Ramblers all good things came in pairs.

Eric Boudreau was the first to pick off the back of the net at 9:31 into the period, then only 24 seconds later Clifford Mugford blasted one past Summerside goaltender Stefan Dumaresque.

Then it was Andrew Oakley and Shane Robar who doubled up the score with Oakleys goal coming at the 14:29 mark and Robars goal clocking in only 21 seconds later.

Adam Chipman rounded out the onslaught with only :01 remaining in the period.

Dumaresque was pulled for the rest of the game and Summerside goaltender Tim Macphee played the last two periods

Unfortunately for MacPhee, the second period was once again all Amherst, with Travis Turner and Adam Chipman scoring for the Ramblers.

But in the third period the Ramblers let their guard down, allowing Summersides Jonathan Cameron and Mark Jennings to score three goals for the Western Capitals, with Jennings finding the back of the net twice.

Rambler goaltender Andrew Flemming stopped 26 of 29 shots while his teammates scored 7 of their 34 shots at the Summerside net.

Game time is 2:00 p.m.

Then the Ramblers dont play again until Thursday when they travel to Pictou County to take on the Weeks Crushers.
