Top host Kensington 8-3

Cody Stevens' sixth-inning triple ignited a seven-run rally as the Cumberland County Red Sox defeated the host Kensington Crusaders 8-3 to win the bronze medal at the Atlantic Bantam AA Baseball Championship.

KENSINGTON, P.E.I. (Staff) - Cody Stevens' sixth-inning triple ignited a seven-run rally as the Cumberland County Red Sox defeated the host Kensington Crusaders 8-3 to win the bronze medal at the Atlantic Bantam AA Baseball Championship.

Luke Warner drove in a pair with two singles while Jesse Colborne doubled and Tyler Skinner and Chris Martin each singled.

Andrew Bragg went the distance to earn the pitching win.

The Red Sox opened the tourney on Friday with a 7-5 loss to the Perth-Andover Expos in 13 innings. Colborne tripled and singled twice, Warner doubled for the Red Sox while Skinner and Cole Wood each singled twice. Aaron Ferguson and Brett Mattinson each singled.

In their second game, the Red Sox erupted for 10 hits in a 12-2 win over the Pasadena Pirates of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Bragg singled twice while Colborne, Skinner, Warner and Taylor Sampson each doubled. Mattinson, Ferguson and Wood each singled.

In their other game, the tournament champion, the Tracadie-Sherwood Knights, defeated the Red Sox 9-6 with Wood and Martin each hitting home runs and singling while Skinner hit two singles, Stevens doubled and Colborne, Ferguson and Cody Carter each singled.
