SPRINGHILL – The Cumberland Blues of the Nova Scotia Junior B Hockey League will open their tryout camp Friday at the Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Centre in Springhill with registration from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
For the past two years the Blues have been slow out of the starting block but this past season they had a solid lineup and with changes in the import rules are looking forward to making the playoffs.
Previously teams in the league were only allowed six imports but with the change to no limit on imports the Blues are hoping a number of players from Mount Allison may want to join the team.
A total of 11 players are returning this year but leaves leave a number of holes to fill and that is where the try out camp comes in.
Icetimes include Friday from 7 to 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Scrimmages will take place from 1:45 to 3:30 p.m. on both days, after which the first cuts will be made.
The final day of camp will be Sept. 10 at 7:30pm.
The Blues will host an exhibition game against the Moncton Vipers at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, followed by a game in Moncton on Sunday.
The regular season begins Sept. 19 against the Valley Wildcats.
For more information, players can call general manager Terry Mcmanaman at 902-297-1121.
The cost of the tryouts is just $25 per player.
