Selects beat Sebago Long Lake, lose to Maine River Rats

AMHERST – The Canadian Tire Amherst Selects little league baseball team returned over the weekend from the Beast of the East baseball tournament in Westbrook Maine.

It was the second weekend in a row they made the trip. The first weekend was a pool-play tournament, and the most recent trip was a single elimination tournament.

The Selects won the first game 21-6 over Sebago Long Lake.

Jackson Comeau and Brandon Hicks pitched the game.

Cal Hoeg hit a grand slam, two triples, a double and a single, Cole Stevens hit a double and two singles, and Graden Chitty hit three singles. Tyler Baker hit a double, and Jackson Colborne and Comeau hit one single each.

The Selects were eliminated in the second game after losing 8-2 to the Southern Maine River Rats.

Hoeg hit a double and two singles, while Ethan Casey and Comeau hit one single each.

Casey also pitched the game for the Selects.
