Will face winner of Sobeys, Screwballs in AMSL Division 2 Finals

It was a swing and a hit for Vern Hurley during Game-1 against the Blue Jays Wednesday night at Robb's Centennial Complex in Amherst. Hurley plays for Green Smith.

AMHERST – Green Smith reached the Amherst Men’s Slo-pitch League Division 2 finals after sweeping the Blue Jays in four straight games in their best of seven first round playoff series Wednesday night at Robb’s.

– In Game 1, Green Smith defeated the Blue Jays 20-5. Steve Brander had two doubles and singles for Green Smith while Ben Smith doubled once and singled twice.

Kris Allen, Vern Hurley and Marty Parsons added three singles apiece for the winners.

For the Jays, Nick Hunter tripled and singled while Ben Bain, Joe Snowdon and John Lake chipped in with two singles apiece in a losing cause.

– In Game 2, the Blue Jays were shut out 18-0, thanks in no small part to Green Smith third baseman Kenny Hope, who single handily ended several Jays’ rallies with his glove and arm.

For Green Smith it was Brander, Parsons and Hurley doubling once and singling twice while Ben Smith singled three times.

For the Blue Jays, Tyler Wilson doubled and singled, the only Jays’ player two have two hits.

Green Smith will await the winner of the Sobeys, Screwballs series that is scheduled to get under way Thursday night on Robb’s 2.

Wrong scores for the second game. Was not a shut out. Personally I got a double for the jays.
