Lions, Y’s Guys beat Mixers, Cubs

Comeau hits two home runs for Y’s Guys

First night of little league playoffs in the books

AMHERST – The first night of the Amherst Little League best-of-five semi-final playoff action saw the Lions beat the Casey Concrete Mixers 17-7, and the Y’s Guys beat the Cumberland Paving Cubs 7-1.

Jackson Comeau led the Y’s Guys with two home runs and five RBI’s, while Tyler Baker hit a double and a single. Zack Boudreau hit two singles and Colson Brown hit one single.

Comeau also pitched for the Y’s Guys, striking out 14 batters, while giving up three hits and eight walks.

Cal Hoeg started off on the mound for the Cubs, and then Brandon Hicks pitched the final three innings.

The combined to strike out 10 batters, and gave up seven hits and 10 walks.

Ethan Casey hit a double for the Cubs, and Reese McLean and Mika Porter hit one single each.

Cole Stevens pitched six innings for the Lions, striking out 10 batters, and giving up seven hits and five walks.

Declan LeBlanc hit a home run and a single for the Lions, Jordan MacKenzie hit two doubles, Graden Chitty hit a double and a single, and Stevens hit a double. Matthew Hunter and Danial MacDonald both hit one single for the Lions.

Isaac VanSnick pitched six innings for the Mixers. He stuck out three batters, and gave up 13 hits and 13 walks.

Josh Arsenault and Jackson Colborne hit one double each for the Mixers, and Ethan Herrett and VanSnick hit one single each.

Game 2 of the best-of-five series continues Wednesday night.
