Mixers earn comeback win over Y’s Guys
AMHERST – Thane McAloney’s two-run single in the top of the eighth drove in the winning runs as the Cumberland Paving Cubs nipped the Lions 8-5 in Amherst Little League A system action on Wednesday.
Cal Hoeg had four singles for the Cubs while Ty Beed had two with Brandon Hicks, Ethan Casey, Reese McLean and Mika Porter each adding one single.
Cole Stevens doubled and tripled for the Lions with Jordan MacKenzie hitting two singles and Danial MacDonald hitting one single.
Hicks took the win in relief of Hoeg. They gave up six hits, walked five and struck out nine.
Madden Miller took the loss in relief of Stevens and MacKenzie. They gave up 11 hits, walked 12 and struck out six.
In the other game, the Casey Concrete Mixers scored six times in the fifth inning to rally from a seven-run deficit to defeat the Y’s Guys 10-9.
Josh Arsenault hit a single and a double for the Mixers while Cameron Vance and Jackson Colborne each doubled and Ethan Herrett singled.
Tyler Baker and Jake Adams each singled twice for the Y’s Guys while Jackson Comeau singled once.
Comeau suffered the loss giving up five hits, walking eight and striking out 12. Reese Blakeney earned the win giving up six hits, walking 11 and striking out 10.
In B system play, Sobey’s nipped Sprott Power 11-8.
Burke Beed singled twice for Sobey’s with Chase Harrison hitting a single and a double. Dylan McManaman, Brandon LeBlanc, Kirkland Porter, Colby Mills and Phoenix Remington each singled once.
Reese MacDonald singled three times for Sprott Power with Kyler Edwards adding two singles. Bryson Chapman singled and doubled and Jackson Reid, John Adams, Connor O’Brien, Caleb Oulton and Ryan Rideout each singled once.
