Graden Chitty hits grand slam home run

AMHERST – Graden Chitty hit a grand slam home run at Monday night Amherst Little League but it wasn’t enough for his Lions, as they went on to lose 15-10 to the Y’s Guys.

Chitty’s home run ball landed right beside his dad Matt, who cheered him on as Graden circled the bases.

Chitty and Cole Stevens split the pitching duties for the Lions. Chitty gave up two hits, five walks and struck out five batters in three innings, while Stevens allowed six hits, seven walks and struck out seven batters in six innings.

Besides the grand slam, Chitty also hit a double and a single, Stevens hit two singles, and Maddon Miller, Daniel MacDonald, Braydon Nichol and Jordan Mackenzie hit one single each.

Jackson Comeau pitched the win for the Y’s Guys, striking out 11 batters, while giving up eight hits and 12 walks.

Comeau hit a triple for the Y’s Guys, Connor Austin hit a double and a single, Zach Boudreau hit two singles, and Jake Adams and Tyler Baker hit one single each.

On the Landry field it was the Cumberland Paving Cubs beating the Casey Concrete Mixers 6-4.

Cal Hoeg pitched the win for the Cubs, striking out 10 batters, and giving up 10 hits and five walks.

Broc McEachern hit a double for the Cubs, Hoeg hit two singles, and Ethan Casey hit a single.

Jackson Colborne pitched for the Mixers, striking out 13 batters, while giving up four hits and six walks.

Colborne knocked in one RBI off of two singles, and Ethan Herrett also had an RBI off of one single. Also hitting singles for the Mixers was Reese Blakeney, Landon Veno and Cam Vance.

Amherst Little League action continues Wednesday night.
