AMHERST – Two Spartans swimmers made a splash at the Nova Tech Explosion Provincial Championships recently held in Wolfville.
“It was a bit of a culture shock,” said Spartans coach Manson Gloade. “The regional Nova Tech competitions are smaller and shorter, so walking into a two-day meet attended by swimmers from across the province can be overwhelming.”
The Nova Tech provincial championships are for new and less experienced competitive swimmers.
“However, the Nova Tech program is designed to provide a dynamic and fun competitive experience for our developing swimmers and these two girls showed that they could swim with the best of them,” said Gloade.
Lindsay Jurcina recorded best times in three events, swimming to ninth place in the 200-metre individual medley.
Rebecca Stone also earned three personal bests and placed eighth in the 50–metre backstroke event.
The Spartans are finished competing for the summer, and they thanked the Cumberland YMCA for their ongoing support of the team.
