To raise funds for summer games in Antigonish

Bacon's Par 3 is hosting a fundraising tournament for the Amherst and Area Special Olympics.

Former premier Roger Bacon and Mitchell Allen prepare to tee off at Bacon’s Par 3 in Upper Nappan. The nine-hole course opened for another season last week and will host a fundraising tournament for Amherst and Area Special Olympics on Saturday, May 31.

AMHERST – A golf tournament is being planned for Saturday, May 31, at Bacon’s Par 3 in Upper Nappan to raise funds for Amherst Special Olympics.

Cost is $100 per team and the shotgun event begins at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m.

Individuals can participate for 18 holes for $25.

Teams can register by calling Terry ‘Mouser’ McManaman at 667-1251.

Members of the Amherst and Area Special Olympics will participate and there will be a Special Olympics athlete assigned to each team.

Prizes will be awarded for the top four teams in each tee group.

There will be canteen services as well as prizes for closest to the hole and a chipping contest.

The Amherst and Area Special Olympics team will be travelling to the provincial summer games in Antigonish last this summer. The tournament will help with travel and accommodation costs.
