SYDNEY — Sources close to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey league have confirmed a trade on Monday for Sherbrooke Phoenix defenceman and team captain Jonathan Deschamps.

In the deal, which cannot be officially announced until the start of the league's trading period on May 30, the Eagles acquired Deschamps, 18, and a fourth-round pick in the 2016 entry draft.

In return, the Screaming Eagles sent 18-year-old goaliender Alex Bureau to the Pheoneix , along with a second-round pick in the upcoming entry draft (39th overall) and the rights to defenceman Louis-Philippe Pagé, a 2012 Screaming Eagles second-round draft choice who never played with the team. If Pagé plays for the Phoenix, the fourth-round 2016 pick sent to the Eagles could become a third-round pick.

Bureau, a former second-round pick, 21st overall, by the Screaming Eagles in 2012, posted a 21-19 win-loss record with a 3.78 goals against average and a 0.868 save percentage during the 2013-14 season.

Deschamps had three assists in 61 games with the second-year Phoenix last season.

The draft is May 31 in Sherbrooke, Que., one day after the league's trading period opens.
