Following 5-4 overtime win over Eastern Shore

The Nova Ice won 5-0 and 5-4 in opening day action at the provincial Midget A Female hockey championship in Springhill on Friday.

SPRINGHILL – The Nova Ice are undefeated after the first day of the Nova Scotia Midget A Female Hockey Championship Tournament.

The Ice, made up of players from both the Cumberland and Parrsboro minor hockey associations, opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over the Colchester Cyclones before winning 5-4 in overtime against the Eastern Shore Mariners.

The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday with games at the Richard Calder Arena in Springhill.

Nova Ice play Yarmouth at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Pictou County at 12:30 p.m.

Colchester plays Eastern Shore at 10:30 a.m., Eastern Shore plays Yarmouth at 4 p.m. and Pictou County and Colchester play at 6 p.m.

The final is on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Cumberland County won the provincial title last year in Parrsboro, while Parrsboro won the championship the season before.

Members from both those teams are with the Nova Ice this season.
