AMHERST - Members of the Amherst Aerials Gymnastics Club stepped up to the plate at the March Break Invitational recently held at Amherst Regional High School.

"They did great," said Michelle Landry, Aerials coach. "Even the girls who didn't place did things they hadn't done before, so I think it was a great meet."

She says the gymnasts have been working hard as the season winds down, and she also thanked the volunteers who made the tournament a success.

"We had a lot of kids go through (300), and we had a lot of positive feedback," said Landry.

The Club hosted the provincial championships last year, and Landry says hosting the March Invitation gets easier every year.

"After provincials last year it was pretty easy," said Landry. "You just deal with one session at a time and work your way through it.

"I have some great volunteers, which makes a bid difference, and we have a lot of sponsors that help out as well."

She also thanked the judges, five of which are former or current Aerials Gymnasts.

When not competing at the Invitational, current gymnast Felicia Landry judged alongside former teammates Samantha Landry, Kyrsten Landry, Margaret Skabar and Lindsay Butler.

"It's really nice to see them come back and contribute to the sport and remain involved in the sport in a different way," said Landry.

Next up for the team is the provincial championship April 4 to 6 in Dartmouth.

"Fifteen of 17 girls have qualified for provincials," said Landry.
