Amherst makes the cut as one of 16 finalists for Kraft Hockeyville

AMHERST - Amherst's quest to be Kraft Hockeyville took a big step forward on Saturday night.

Amherst has made the final competition in the Kraft Hockeyville contest. Voting continues until 12:59 a.m. Atlantic time on Monday night. 

Amherst was selected as one of the 16 national finalist for the contest in which the winning community hosts an NHL game next fall and receive $100,000.

Amherst joins Kingston and Central Bedeque, P.E.I. as the three Maritime finalists - three of the eight eastern communities competing in the contest.

Voting continues until Monday at 12:59 a.m. Atlantic Time when the list will be reduced to four - two from the east and two from the west. The four finalists will each receive $50,000.
