Vikings playing in Chrysler Cross Border Challenge beginning Friday

WESTVILLE – The Amherst Regional High School Vikings hockey team lost 2-1 to the Northumberland Regional High School Nighthawks Wednesday night in Westville.

William Gogan scored the lone Vikings goal off passes from Alex VanSnick and Brody Deegan. The goal was scored on a power play with 2:28 left in the first period

The Nighthawks two goals were scored eight seconds apart in the second period. The first with 2:09 left in the second period, and the second with 2:01 left in the second period.

The Vikings had several chances to tie the game, with the last chance coming with 10 seconds left in the game.

Matt Hunter got the loss in goal for the Vikings.

With the loss, the Vikings Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation season comes to an end.

But they still have more hockey ahead of them.

They will host the Tantramar Titans for the Chrysler Cross Border Challenge tournament beginning Friday night at Amherst Stadium.

The challenge is a best-of-three tournament between ARHS and the Tantramar Regional High School Titans.

Game 1 starts at 8:30 p.m.

Game 2 is Saturday at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre.
