AMHERST – Matt Cormier went on a tear, scoring seven goals and two assists during Amherst Adult Hockey League action Sunday night at Amherst Stadium.
The nine-point game helped lead his second place Bluewave Energy team to a 11-5 win over the first place Colson Overhead Doors.
Tim Ackles added three goals for Bluewave, and Mike McSorely added one goal.
Joel Stronge and Tony Wood had three assists each, Jordie Fields, Victor Wright and Mark McLeod added two assists each, and Ian McCarthy and Mike Stack added one assist each.
Ryan Reynolds led the Doors with two goals and two assists. Mark Bennett had one goal and two assists, Jarrod Fraser had a goal and an assist, and Stephen Skidmore added one goal. Bill Jobes had two assists for the Doors, and Danny Small had one assist.
Bluewave had 35 shots on Colson goaltender Steve Brown, while Colson had 24 shots on Bluewave goaltender Gilles Hache.
Colson Overhead Doors vs. J&K Electric
The Doors and the Electric battled to an 8-8 tie Thursday night at Amherst Stadium.
Cormier added five more points to his league leading total with five points - one goal and four assists - while Fields added three goals, and Ackles scored two goals and one assist.
Also scoring for Colson was Patrick Crabbe and Scott Dicks with one goal each.
Stack and Wass Lewis added two assists each, and McLeod and Stronge had one assist each.
Justin Matthews led J&K with three goals, fallowed by Simon Gaudet with two goals and two assists and Brendon Grimes with two goals.
Aaron Dobson added one goal and one assist, while Shane O’Byrne added four assists and Dave McLeod had one assist.
Shots on goal was even as well with 26 shots for each team. Hache played in nets for Bluewave, and Stephen Pugsley played in goal for J&K.
Adding 14 point to the score box extends Cormier’s lead in the scoring race to 75 points, 16 points ahead of second place Justin Matthews. Cormier has 35 goals and 40 assists, and Matthews has 28 goals and 31 assists.
Colson continues to lead the league with 32 points, while Bluewave is second with 28 points.
J&K is third with 27 points, and the Elmtree Pub & Grill is fourth with 15 points.
The Pub and J&K play Tuesday night.
