The JV Vikettes give a pep talk before the game starts.
KENNETCOOK – The Amherst Regional High School JV Vikettes posted a win and two losses record to claim fifth spot at the Hants North Flames Invitational in Kennetcook on the weekend.
The Vikettes defeated Northumberland JV Nighthawks 65-24 after dropping games to North Nova Education Centre, 67-60, and to Oxford Recreation Education Center Bears 50-43.
Jessica Wilson and Renee Allen both struck for 13 points to lift ARHS to its' win. Jillian Lockhart hooped 10, Emma Taylor, eight and Makayla Embree and Andrea Comeau both had six. Sonia Minocha mingled for five, with Steph MacDonald, Risha McKenney and Rachel Chevarie adding four each.
Hannah Williams poured in a game-high 27 points to lead North Nova past Amherst earlier Saturday. MacKenney shot 16 and Taylor meshed 12 for the Vikettes, who received 10 from Chevarie, nine from Wilson and five from Comeau. Allen and MacDonald finished with three and Minocha, two.
Amherst, in their Friday opener, led 41-30 heading to the fourth quarter before running out of offensive steam against OREC.
Wilson scored 16 and Chevarie tickled the twines for 13 to help ARHS, while Comeau hooped seven; Allen managed five; Taylor had four and Embree sunk a foul shot.
