Vikings, Panthers win first two games at ARHS Christmas Classic

AMHERST – The Amherst Regional High School Christmas Classic was launched Friday at noon with the ARHS Vikings defeating the North Nova Education Centre Gryphons 83-41.

Logan Dowe led the Vikings with 14 points followed by Jacob Harnish with 13, Jason Morse and Willie Legere with 11 each, Caleb Hayes with nine, Joel McCrossin with eight, Adrian Van Vulpen with seven, Matt McCrossin with six, and Marcus Kindervater and Dustin Pipes with two points each.

Colin MacIntosh and Jalen Johnson scored nine points each, Connor MacGillivray scored seven points, Liam Spears scored six, Michael Williams scored four, and Parker Byrne, Colby Russell and Henry Munro scored two points each.

In the second game of the afternoon, the Pugwash District High School Panthers defeated the Summerside Three Oaks High School Axemen 80-73.

Jordan Reid led the Panthers with 30 points, Colby Stevens had 18, Lucas Morrison scored 12, Tristan McKellar, Jordan Boyd and Garrett Alguire scored six each, and Caleb Pye had four points.

Ty Wright scored 23 for TOSH, Max Hammer had 22, James Meek seven, Tanner Mendoza and Collin Mackay scored five each, Chris Richard and Aiden Smith scored four each, and Matthew Tanton scored three.

The six-team tournament continues Friday night and Saturday, with the bronze medal game starting at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, and the gold medal game tipping off at 4:30 p.m.
