AMHERST - The Amherst Regional High School Vikings hockey team hosts the Port Hawkesbury's Strait Area Education Recreation Centre (SAERC) tonight at Amherst Stadium.

"They're a very aggressive team so we have to keep our heads, and play our game and not their game," said Wayne MacKenzie, Vikings head coach. "They like to hit somebody every time. They're more of a bump and grind team, so we have to play with some finesse."

Last week the Division 2 Vikings beat the Division 1 North Nova Gryphons 4-0.

We have to do what we did last week when we did all the right things," said MacKenzie. "We have to make sure we have men covered in our own end, get the puck deep, forecheck hard and get the puck to the goalie."

"Matt Hunter will play in goal for the Vikings.

"We have a few guys out but we should have a full bench," said MacKenzie.

This is the Vikings last game before Christmas.

Admission is $2, and people are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the food bank.

"It would be good if students bring a food item as well for needy families at this time of year," said MacKenzie.

He also thanked fans for their support for first half of he season and hopes to see them back in the new-year, and said, "Merry Christmas from the players and the coaching staff."

The puck drops against SAERC at 8:15 p.m.
