Eight-time Winter X Games medalist Heath Frisby from Middleton, Idaho sits on a priceless 1969 Ski-Doo Olympique 335 Saturday during Cobequid Mountain Sports Ski-Doo open house. Frisby, who is only person to ever successfully complete a forward flip on a Ski-Doo, will be competing in the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado in January.
COLLINGWOOD-Cobequid Mountain Sports had a very special guest on hand Saturday for its annual Ski-Doo open house, the largest one that it has ever hosted.
Heath Frisby, a 29-year-old Winter X Games competitor from Middleton, Idaho, was on hand to sign autographs during the annual event’s main attraction.
“I’ve been jumping professionally for 14 years, the last 10 with Ski-Doo,” said Frisby. “I grew up snowmobiling with my family. Snowmobiling is what I do.”
At the 2011 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado, Frisby, an eight-time Winter X Games medalist became the first and only person in history to ever successfully complete a forward flip on a snowmobile, an accomplishment he is quite proud of.
“I always go there (Aspen, Colorado) just to be happy with my own jump, happy with how I rode” said Frisby. “I don’t worry about how the judges are going to score me too much. The people who back you will support you no matter what.”
In addition to Frisby, representatives from Cumberland Snowmobile Club, SANS, Gamma Sales, Action Car and Truck Accessories, SCS Unlimited and Slednecks were on hand to support Cobequid Mountain Sports’ annual Ski-Doo open house.
“I came out today to support the dealership; they’re (Cobequid Mountain Sports) a good dealer,” said Frisby. “Ski-Doo was good enough to bring me out from Middleton, Idaho. It’s really great to meet people; it’s good to see them come out.”
Monster Energy Drinks and SCS Unlimited were the event’s other key sponsors.
“This is the most successful one we’ve ever had,” said Cobequid Mountain Sports general manager Alex Parker. “I’ve been here since early 2011.”
As for Cobequid Mountain Sports, it has been in business since 1965.
“People hold off quite a while to take advantage of today,” said Parker. “We deal in snowmobiles, ATVs, side-by-sides to a full line-up of parts, accessories and clothing.” The day also featured giveaways, refreshments and information tables.
“Thank you to everyone that showed up and took advantage of the (Ski-Doo) open house,” said Parker. “Thanks also to Heath Frisby for showing up.”
