The Pictou County atom AAA Crushers came home with silver medal from the Allan Sullivan Memorial Tournament in Sydney this past weekend, losing 5-1 to the Antigonish Bulldogs in the final.
Player of the game Ryan Green scored the lone Crusher with Skyler Earle receiving the most sportsmanlike award.
In round-robin action the Crushers lost their first game 2-1 to the Sackville Flyers with player of the game, Tyler Matchem, playing a great game in the goal. Lucas Canning scored the lone goal.
The Crushers rebounded in their second game with a 4-0 win over the Cape Breton County Islanders.
Thomas Gariepy got the shutout, while Landon Sim scored twice to lead Pictou County offensively. Kiefer Avery and Canning each scored one apiece.
Ryan Denny was player of the game, with assists going to Liam Berthiaume with two, Skyler Earle, Sim and Ryan Green with one each.
In their third game, Avery scored with 19 seconds left to give the Crushers a 1-0 victory over the Glace Bay Miners. Avery was player of the game and Matchem got the shutout.
In the crossovers, the Crushers edged the Bedford Blues 2-1. Gariepy played well between the pipes, while Sim and Canning scored for the Crushers. The player of the game was Landon MacDonald.
