TRENTON - Over the weekend the NRHS boyâs hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss to the J.H. Gillis Royals in the crossover semifinals of the 14th Annual Allan Cameron Memorial Tournament to be eliminated.
Scoring for the Nighthawks in the loss was Losh Langille, assisted by Kyle Sutherland. Brennen Snell was in goal. Jordan Wheeler was awarded player of the game.
They opened the tournament on Friday with a 3-0 loss to Dalbrae. Snell was between the pipes and received player of the game.
The Nighthawks came away with a 5-2 victory later in the day against the Amherst Vikings. Scoring for the Nighthawks were: Dallas MacDonald (2), Luke MacDonald, Brandon Bell and Lance Emery. Assists went to Noah Chisholm, Morgan Peters, Jethro Gunn and Reed MacDonald. Kyle Mackenzie was in goal, while Dallas MacDonald was awarded player of the game.
Against the Gryphons on Saturday morning the Nighthawks won 2-1, with Chisholm scoring both goals for NRHS.
Up next for the Nighthawks is a home game Saturday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Westville Arena. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students. On Sunday, the Nighthawks travel to Antigonish, game time 7 p.m. at the arena.
