AMHERST – A group of young swimmers kicked off their swim season this month with a successful showing at a regional Nova Tech meet.
“Nova Tech is an introductory program designed to allow swimmers to develop their technique in a supportive environment,” said Spartans coach Jan Matthews. “The focus of the meets is to allow young athletes to celebrate their individual accomplishments in a team setting.”
Team Spartans collectively earned 17 personal best times and swam to 12 top ten finishes.
Jake Adams placed first in the 50-freestyle and second in the 50-backstroke and 200-free events, recording personal bests for each of these swims.
Thomas Bristol swam all best times, placing first in the 200-free, third in the 50-free and 50-back and eighth in the 200-individual medley.
Maddie Bristol placed fourth in the 25-back, fifth in the 100-IM and seventh in the 25-freestyle events. She recorded best times in each of these events.
Ella McGuigan’s personal best in the 50-back earned her a seventh place finish. She also recorded a best time in the 50-free.
Lindsay Jurcina placed ninth in the 25-free, recording best times in the 25-free and 25-back events.
John Adams saw the greatest improvement in his recorded times, earning personal bests in the 25-back, 25-free and 100-IM events.
