The Ramblers are on the road to Campbellton and Miramichi this weekend.
AMHERST – The CIBC Wood Gundy Amherst Ramblers are heading on the road this weekend for two Maritime Hockey League contests.
“We’re in Campbellton on Friday and then on Saturday we play the Timberwolves in Mirimachi,” said Ramblers coach and general manager Jim Bottomley.
Neither team is to be taken lightly.
“We’ll be on a big ice surface in Campbellton and they’re a team that likes to keep it close, so we just have to play our own game,” said Bottomley.
The Ramblers have got off to bad starts their last couple games and Bottomley says that has to change.
“We hope to get a better jump because it’s hard to play come-back hockey.”
The Ramblers had a major come-from-behind game recently on Remebrance Day where they came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Bearcats 6-2.
“Other teams are jumping on us early and we’re getting behind before we really start working, but we’ve been working on getting a better jump during practice this week,” said Bottomley.
The Ramblers hope to earn four points this weekend but Bottomley knows his team has to be disciplined on the road.
“We have to stay out of the box,” he said.
The Ramblers have beat the Campbellton Tigers twice this season and lost to Mirimachi once.
“We lost to the Timberwolves at home 5-4 in the last minute,” said Bottomley. “We gave the puck away in the last minute and they scored.”
Richard Tingley will get the start in goal against Campbellton.
Bottomley says the Ramblers are looking for billets for players.
“There’s a deadline coming up and we’re looking for some players, and it would be nice to have some billets in place before we make those moves,” he said.
Anybody interested in billeting a player can contact Bottomley or any of the executive.
