AMHERST – The Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers’ offensive woes continue against the Weeks Crushers.

Weeks Crushers forward Brandon Parsons holds the puck against the boards while two Amherst Ramblers try to pry it away from his skate on Saturday night.

The Crushers scored two first period goals and added a late third period goal en route to a 3-0 win over the Ramblers in Maritime Junior Hockey League action on Saturday night.

“It’s the same old thing the last few games. We want to keep our goals against down and we’re doing that, but we just can’t seem to find any offence,” Ramblers coach Jim Bottomley said following the game. “We had lots of chances, especially after the first period, but we just couldn’t get the puck to go in the net. The guys are doing everything can and everyone’s doing their jobs but we just don’t have that touch around the net.”

Regan Spears opened the scoring 14:44 into the opening period when he shoveled a puck by Ramblers’ goalie Richard Tingley, while three minutes later Mitchell Deruelle was left all alone by the side of the goal and converted on a cross-crease pass to give the Crushers a 2-0 lead after one period.

“We missed a couple of checks and they took advantage of it,” Bottomley said.

The Ramblers had several scoring opportunities in the second and third period, but Crushers’ goalie Brandon Thibeau was equal to the task making a couple of big pad saves to preserve the shutout.

The Crushers’ defence also blocked a lot of shots as the Ramblers could not penetrate the defensive cover in front of Thibeau and any rebounds were quickly cleared from the front of the net.

Tyler Doyle rounded out the scoring with 1:36 to play when he broke in the left side and one-timed a pass by Tingley.
