SPRINGHILL – The Cumberland County Blues scored the first goal of Friday’s Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League contest against the Antigonish Bulldogs, but everything went south from that point on and they lost 7-2.
After no scoring in the first period, Zack Black put the Blues up 1-0 just over a minute into the second period, then the Bulldogs scored seven unanswered goals before Jesse Colborne score a shorthanded, unassisted goal with 54 seconds left in the game.
Colborne and Paul Gulliver assisted on the Black goal.
Blues goaltender Jesse Cox let in six goals on 37 shots before back up-stopper Julien Savoie came in and allowed one goal on seven shots.
The Blues had 26 shots on Dogs goaltender Keagan Butler.
The Blues are on the road to begin the month of November. On Friday they travel to Port Hawkesbury to take on the Strait Pirates, and then on Sunday they’re in Trenton where they will face off against the Pictou County Scotians.
The Blues return home Nov. 8 when they will host the Scotians.
