Colts beat Rhinos Friday in overtime

AMHERST – The Amherst Colts lost a 4-3 shootout game to the Fundy Rhinos during Nova Scotia Junior C Hockey League action Sunday afternoon at Amherst Stadium.

The first period ended with the Rhinos up 3-1. The Colts Kyle MacDonald scored the lone Colts goal in the first.

The Colts made it a 3-2 game in the second period when Aaron Crocker scored the only goal in the second period with assists from Ryan Horseman and Andrew Barron.

Devon Despres tied the game 3-3 with only 1:10 left in the game.

Nobody scored in the five-minute overtime, and then the Rhinos won in the shootout.

Matt Caron played in net for the Colts and Eric Durand for the Rhinos. Both goaltenders faced 36 shots.

The Colts beat the Rhinos 6-5 Friday night in overtime.

Barron scored three of the Colts goals, with Aaron Crocker, MacDonald and Matt Richard scoring one goal each.

Richard and Aaron Crocker also scored two assists each,  while MacDonald, Brandon Crocker, Conrad Leger and Caron had on assist each.

Caron faced 57 shots in the game, while his teammates had 27 shots on Rhino goaltender Brandon Archibald.
