Horseman gets five points for Colts

Matt Caron is congratulated by his teammates after posting another win for the Colts. Caron has been a steady presence in net for the Colts.

LIVERPOOL – Ryan Horseman fired four goals and added an assist as the Amherst Colts beat the South Shore Wild 8-2 during Nova Scotia Junior C Hockey League action in Liverpool Friday night.

Other goals were scored by last years MVP Andrew Barron with two, David Lockerby and Conrad Léger chipped in singles, and Noah Perrin and Brett Gallant added helpers.

“We had a strong game as far as putting pucks in the net,” said Paul Atkinson, Colts General Manager. “We have to work on our defensive zone coverage and power play. Once we get those areas fine tuned we will be tough ever game.”

Matt Caron faced 33 shots on the night for the Colts while his teammates fired a total of 34 shots at two different Wild goaltenders – Douglas Barrier and Daniel Lohnes.

Head coach Kevin Phinney says he has confidence in their goaltenders.

“It is always nice having tenders that can stop the puck it gives us confidence and a chance to win every time out,” said Phinney.

The Colts will be back in action Sunday at 4:15 p.m. at Amherst Stadium when they face off against the Truro Rhinos.
