AMHERST – The Amherst Junior C Colts beat the Fundy Phantoms 3-2 during Nova Scotia Jr. C Hockey League action Sunday in Amherst.

Colts goaltender Matt Caron goes down for a save during third period action Sunday at Amherst Stadium. Caron faced a total of 32 shots in the game.

AMHERST – The Amherst Junior C Colts beat the Fundy Phantoms 3-2 during Nova Scotia Jr. C Hockey League action Sunday in Amherst.

“I thought they played good for the second game of the season,” said Kevin St. Peter, Colts president.

Zack Haley, David Lockeby and Ryan Horseman scored one goal each for the Colts, with assists from Devon Despres, Spencer Maskill and Sam Leger.

Colts goaltender Matt Caron faced 32 shots, while his teammates had 19 shots on the Phantoms net.

“We picked Caron up from the (Cumberland County) Blues and we thought he played a good game,” said St. Peter. “And our defence back checked really well.”

Peter Kane and Matte Beal are players from Amherst on the Colts.

“They’re fitting in well and playing good,” said St. Peter.

The Colts head coach this season is Kevin Phinney, while Paul Atkinson has moved from the head coach position to general manager.
