Ross Martin, Brock Morrison, Serge Boisvert, Zack MacEwen, Brett Shute and newcomer Daniel Walsh all scored for the Ramblers, who built up a 3-0 lead early in the second period and then led 6-2 after 40 minutes.
"I thought the offence came together nicely for us tonight," Ramblers coach Jim Bottomley said after the game. "(Daniel) Walsh really helped spark our lineup. He's been a big addition."
Bruce Hornbrook scored twice for Summerside with Malik Johnson and Cavan Fitzgerald, in the game’s final minute, also added single goals.
"I thought we had a couple of soft shifts early in the second that allowed them to get back into the game, but they guys battled back to add to the lead before the end of the second," Bottomley said.
Martin added a pair of assists for Amherst, while Morrison, Boisvert, Bishop, Ryan Caswell, Kyle Beckwith and Travis Howe each added one.
Chase Marchand earned the win in goal for Amherst.
