Heading into final round robin game Sunday
The Amherst Red Sox defeated N.B. on Saturday to move to 3-0 at the Atlantic Bantam AA Baseball Championships in Cardigan, P.E.I.
CARDIGAN, P.E.I. – The Amherst Pioneer Fuels Red Sox are 3-0 after one day's action at the Atlantic Bantam AA Baseball Tournament in Prince Edward Island.
The Red Sox defeated New Brunswick's representative from Taymouth 8-3 under the lights on Saturday to move to 3-0.
Amherst opened the tournament earlier Saturday with a 10-0 win over Conception Bay North from Newfoundland. The game was called after five innings by the 10-run mercy rule.
Later Saturday, the Red Sox came from behind to defeat P.E.I. representative West Prince by a 10-8 county.
Amherst plays host Cardigan this morning.
The championship game is this afternoon.
The Red Sox claimed the Nova Scotia championship two weeks ago in Bedford.
