Dieppe beat Ramblers in shootout

AMHERST – Pre-season Maritime Hockey League action continued Sunday afternoon with the CIBC Amherst Wood Gundy Ramblers losing 4-3 to the Dieppe Commandos in a shootout.

Dieppe took a 1-0 lead only 30 seconds into the game but the first period ended with the Ramblers up 2-1 off goals from Brett Shute and Jamie Bishop.

John Deacon and MacKenzie Young assisted on the Shute goal, and Cam McDonald and Deacon assisted on the Bishop goal.

The Commandos scored the lone goal in the second period, tying the game 2-2.

The Ramblers made it a 3-2 game about two and a half minutes into the third period when Shawn Wright scored off a pass from Ryan Caswell.

Dieppe then scored with 1:06 left in the game.

Dieppe won in a shootout.

Richard Tingley played in goal for the Ramblers and faced 39 shots, while the Ramblers shot 24 shots at Commando’s goaltender Connor Wilkinson.

The Ramblers beat Dieppe 3-1 Saturday night in Amherst.
