AMHERST – One more tryout. That’s all that’s left for any girl hoping to make the Amherst Regional High School Vikettes soccer team.
“We hope to have the team picked by Thursday, and then we’re in Truro for a round robin tournament on Friday and Saturday,” said Vikettes soccer coach Amanda Barlow, after running the girls through drills.
32 girls are trying out for the 16-person roster.
Only three girls on last year’s team graduated, and many of the girls trying out played Vikettes soccer last year.
Barlow says the younger girls shouldn’t be intimidated by the older girls and has a message for all the girls, no matter what their age.
“They can’t leave anything behind, they have to come to play and want to make the team.”
Thursday’s tryout runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
