Fundy Hockey School celebrating 30 years

The Fundy Hockey School is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary when the annual minor hockey camp begins Sept. 3 at the Amherst Stadium.

AMHERST – This year’s Fundy Hockey School is a little more special than usual.

School officials are set to celebrate the school’s 30th anniversary that will include a commemorative logo and special jerseys for all participating hockey players.

The school kicks off Sept. 3 and continues through Sept. 10 for Groups B, C and D. Group A runs from Sept. 26 to Oct. 5.

There are still few openings in the school. Group A is for ages six to eight, Group B is for ages nine and 10, Group C is for ages 11 and 12 and Group D is for ages 13 to 15.

Former Amherst Ramblers coach and general manager Corey Crocker is taking over as school co-ordinator after Jeff Lewis accepted the director of hockey operations position at Rothesay Netherwood School near Saint John, N.B.

A number of long-time minor hockey coaches will be back as instructors.

The school is hosted by the Cumberland County Minor Hockey Association and sponsored by the Wandlyn Inn and Fort Equipment with financial assistance also provided by CIBC Wood Gundy, Amherst.

Daren White designed a special four-colour 30th anniversary log that will be on all the jerseys. The logo will also be on the ice at the Amherst Stadium throughtout the 2013-14 hockey season.

Applications for the school are available at Dayle’s Department Store, Ken’s Rite Stop, the Amherst Stadium or at the CCMHA website (ccmha.goalline.ca).

Cost is $175 for players, $100 for goalies.
