Cubs win first game of consolation series

Cal Hoeg pitched the Cubs to a 7-3 win over the Mixers Monday night on the Sonny Foster field.
AMHERST – The Y’s Guy’s took a 1-0 lead over the Lions in their Amherst Little League best-of-five championship series Monday night.
Nate Stone pitched for the Y’s Guys in the 10-2 win. He struck out 11 batters, and gave up three hits and five walks.
Stone also hit a single, and Aaron Sjanic hit a double and J.D. Pettigrew hit two singles.
Graden Chitty pitched two innings for the Lions and struck out four batters, and gave up one hit and five walks before Michael Farrell came in for relief.
Farrell struck out three batters, gave up three hits and three walks.
Farrell hit a double, and Cole Stevens and Chitty hit a single each.
Cubs vs. Mixers
The Cumberland Paving Cubs took a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three consolation series after they beat the Casey Concrete Mixers 7-3.
Cal Hoeg pitched the win for the Cubs, striking out 13 batters, and giving up four hits and eight walks.
Zack Gould hit a home run and two single and batted in three runners for the Cubs, and both Hoeg and Brock McEachern hit a double and a single each.
Elliott McNutt hit a double, Reese McLean and Mika Porter hit two singles each, and Brandon Hicks hit a single.
Hoeg and McEachern had one RBI each.
Jill Gallant pitched for the Mixers. She struck out nine batters and gave up 13 hits and three walks.
Gallant scored one RBI off of two singles, and Riley Girouard and Reese Blakney hit one single each.
