Y’s Guys put on hitting clinic in win over Cubs

AMHERST – The Amherst Little League finals have been set after the Y’s Guys and the Lions beat the Cubs and Mixers.

With the wins the Y’s Guys will play the Lions in the Little League championship series and the Mixers will play the Cubs in the consolation series.

Y’s Guys vs. Cubs

The Y’s Guys beat the Cumberland Paving Cubs by 15 runs in a 16-1 win.

J.D. Pettigrew pitched six innings in the win, striking out 10 Cubs, and giving up three hits and one walk.

Jackson Comeau hit two home runs for the Y’s Guys on the Sonny Foster field, while Nate Stone hit a home run, three doubles and on single. Aaron Sjanic also hit a home run for the Y’s Guys.

Pettigrew, Anthony Hazel, Jackson Comeau and Tyler Baker hit two singles each, while Brady Crowe, Zack Boudreau and Jake Adams hit one single each.

Brandon LeBlanc and Ethan Casey split duties on the Cubs mound. They combined to strike out three batters, and gave up 19 hits and five walks.

Mika Porter hit a double for the Cubs and Cal Hoeg hit two singles.

Lions vs. Mixers

The Lions beat the Casey Concrete Mixers by 15 runs in a 17-2 win.

Michael Farrell pitched for the Lions, striking out 13 batters, and giving up one hit and five walks.

Mats Stone hit a triple and a double, Cole Stevens hit two doubles and two singles, and Farrell hit a double and a single.

Also hitting for the Lions was Madden Miller with two singles, with Cameron smith and Benji Perry hitting one single each.

Jackson Colborne pitched four innings for the Mixers and Riley Girouard pitched two innings.

Colborne Struck out four batters, giving up seven hits and one walk, while Girouard struck out two batters and gave up five hits and three walks.

Girouard got the only hit for the Mixers, which was a triple.

The finals start Monday night.
