Y’s Guys, Lions beat Cubs, Mixers

AMHERST – The first night of the Amherst Little League semi-finals finished with the Y’s Guys beating the Cumberland Paving Cubs 15-2, and the Lions edging the Casey Concrete Mixers 8-7.

- Y’s Guys vs. Cubs

Nate Stone pitched the 2013 pennant winning Y’s Guy to a 15-2 win over the Cubs after he struck out 13 batters, and gave up three hits and four walks.

Aaron Sjanic and Stone both knocked in three RBI’s. Sjanic scored his RBI’s off a home run and a single, and Stone hit three doubles.

Brady Crowe hit three singles, and Jackson Comeau hit a double and a single, while Tyler Baker and Jake Adams both hit a double.

Colson Brown hit two singles, and J.D. Pettigrew hit one single.

Cal Hoeg and Ethan Casey pitched for the Cubs, and they combined to strike out six batters, gave up 15 hits and walked six batters.

Hoeg scored an RBI off a single, while Ty Beed hit a double and Zack Gould hit a single.

- Lions vs. Mixers

Mats Stone was on the mound for the Lions, striking out 12 batters, giving up six hits and four walks in the Mixers 8-7 win.

Jordan MacKenzie, Graden Chitty, Matthew Hunter and Cole Stevens hit one double each, while Stone and Michael Farrell hit one single each.

Jill Gallant pitched the entire game for the Mixers, striking out eight batters, while giving up six hits and four walks.

Gallant hit a double and a single for the Mixers, Jackson Colborne hit two singles and Reese Blakeney and Riley Girouard hit one single each.

Amherst Little League continues Wednesday at 6 p.m.
