Jager Bombs split first two games with Sobeys

AMHERST – Anybody would be forgiven for saying ‘here we go again,’ after watching the Cumberland Reds beat IMP 16-2 in the first game of their best-of-seven Amherst Men’s Slopitch Division 1 championship series Thursday night at Robb’s Centennial Complex.
But the people who said, ‘here we go again,’ were wrong.
Cumberland lost only one game during the 2013 regular season, an 8-7 loss to Greensmith in mid-June, but last night they lost their second game of 2013, a 5-4 loss to IMP during the second game of the seven game series.
Chris McIsaac hit a home run and a single for IMP in the win, Jeremy Edwards hit a triple and a single, and Scott Mattinson hit a double and a single.
Luke Crocker hit a home run and a two single for the Reds, and Steve Brown hit a home run and a single.
Marc Belliveau led the Reds in the first game with two home runs, a double and a single, while Devin Moore hit a home run and a single.
Cody Hunter hit a double and a single for IMP.
Sobeys vs. Jager Bombs
Sobeys and the Jager Bombs split the first two games of their seven game series Thursday at Robb’s.
Sobeys won the first game 21-14 with Dave Chapman hitting two triples and a double, John Sharpe hitting a triple and a double, and Byron Hubbard hitting a triple and two singles.
Rory Faulkner hit a home run for the Jager Bombs, Matt Fowler added a triple and a single and Adam white hit a triple.
There was a near identical score in the second game, but this time it was the Jager Bombs winning 21-13.
Matt Keddy hit a home run and a single for the Bombs, and Colin Chapman hit a triple, a double, and a single.
Cory Symes, Sharpe and Tyler Jackson each hit a double a two singles for Sobeys and Dave Chapman hit three doubles for Sobeys.
