Amherst Men's Slopitch League Post-Season Begins Monday

AMHERST-The 2013 Amherst Men's Slopitch League regular season schedule, which wrapped up this past Wednesday, July 17, is in the books, leaving only the post-season to be played.
The four teams with the best records (Cumberland Reds, IMP, Green Smith and Atlantic Kia) will be battling it out for the Division I title while the four teams with the worst records (Sobeys, Jager Bombs, Sackville Brew Jays and Free Agents) find themselves competing for the league's Division II title.
The top-seeded Cumberland Reds (27-1) are scheduled to play Atlantic Kia (19-9) on Monday, July 22 (games 1 and 2) and Wednesday, July 24 (games 3 and 4*) on Robb's 1 while Sobeys plays the Free Agents on Robb's 2 on the aforementioned two days. All doubleheaders commence at 6:30 pm.
Other scheduled playoff action features IMP (21-7) and Green Smith (20-8) on Tuesday, July 23 (games 1 and 2) and Monday, July 29 (games 3 and 4*) on Robb’s 1 starting at 6:30 pm while the Jager Bombs and Sackville Brew Jays will square off on Robbs 2 on the aforementioned dates and times.
All first round playoff match-ups are best 3-out-of-5 games series, with game 5* to be determined.
The winners of the Cumberland Reds/Atlantic Kia series will play the winners of the IMP/Green Smith series in a best-4-out-of-7 games series for the Division I title.
Similarly, the winners of the Sobeys/Free Agents series will face the winners of the Jager Bombs/Sackville Brew Jays series in a best-4-out-of-7 games series for the Division II title.
The first round features several intriguing match-ups: Green Smith swept a doubleheader earlier in the season from IMP while IMP swept Green Smith this past Wednesday night, evening the season series up at 2 games apiece.
As for the Free Agents (2-26), their only two wins this season came against Sobeys, who split their season series (2-2) with them.
