Stone homers, doubles in Y’s Guys win over Mixers

Lions defeat Cubs 9-4

AMHERST – Nate Stone hit his first home run and doubled as the Y’s Guys nipped the Mixers 4-1 in Amherst Little League A system action on Wednesday.

Jackson Comeau singled and doubled for the Y’s Guys and Aaron Sjanic and Connor Austin each doubled. Brady Crowe singled.

Riley Girouard singled for the Mixers.

Stone, Comeau and Sjanic combined on a one-hitter, giving up four walks and striking out 10.

Jackson Colborne gave up seven hits for the Mixers while he walked two and struck out five.

In the other game, Cole Stevens doubled and Graden Chitty singled twice as the Lions defeated the Cumberland Paving Cubs 9-4.

Mats Stone, Michael Farrell, Danial MacDonald and Madden Miller each singled once for the Lions. Reese McLean singled and doubled for the Cubs with Mason Bird adding a single.

Farrell and Stone gave up three hits, walked five and struck out 11 for the Lions. Brandon Hicks gave up seven hits, walked five and struck out six for the Cubs.

The Amherst Canadian Tire Little League Selects are hosting the Glace Bay Colonels in a doubleheader on Saturday at the Landry Field.
