Take two from Dartmouth and Halifax
AMHERST – MacKenzie LeBlanc homered once and singled twice and Michael O’Brien homered as the Amherst Pioneer Fuels Red Sox defeated the Halifax Braves 17-7 in Baseball Nova Scotia Bluenose Bantam AA League action on Sunday at the Robb’s Centennial Complex.
Caleb Coulson hit three singles and tripled for Amherst , Morgan Jobes singled three times and Dylan Baker singled twice. Brandon Greeno tripled and Spencer Moreau, Baiden Landry and Brad Gray singled.
Greeno earned the win going five innings, while Jobes pitched the final two innings.
In the opener, Gray hit three singles and homered and Greeno homered and doubled as Amherst won 22-9.
LeBlanc homered and doubled, Coulson hit three singles and doubled, Chris Richards singled four times and Jobes, Moreau, O’Brien and Baker each singled.
LeBlanc earned the pitching win with Coulson also pitching.
On Saturday, LeBlanc hit a long grand slam home run and doubled and Greeno doubled and tripled as the Red Sox edged the Dartmouth Arrows 11-10 with Sam LeBlanc forcing in the winning run when he drew a two-out walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.
Jobes singled twice in the game with Richards and Landry each adding one single.
In the second game, Greeno homered once and doubled twice and LeBlanc homered as Amherst won 17-10.
Coulson singled twice and tripled, Richards and Moreau each singled twice and Landry had one single.
LeBlanc, Greeno, Coulson and Jobes all pitched for Amherst.
Amherst is on the road next weekend when the Red Sox play in a tournament in Enfield.
