Lions edge Cubs in extra innings

Brock MacEachern fouled the ball during the sixth inning of Amherst Little League action Wednesday night.

AMHERST – Graden Chitty sprinted from third and crossed home plate on a passed ball to give the Lions a 3-2 win over the Cumberland Paving Cubs last night during Amherst Little League action.

Chitty also played on the mound for the Lions, striking out nine batters, while giving up two hits and five walks in six innings. Cameron Smith came in for relief in the seventh inning, striking out one batter and giving up one walk.

Chitty hit one double for the Lions, and Mats Stone hit two singles.

Smith and Michael Farrell hit one single each for the Lions.

Cal Hoeg pitched six innings for the Cubs. He struck out 11 batters, and gave up three hits and five walks.

Ethan Casey came in for the sixth inning and gave up two hits.

Hoeg hit a triple and a single for the Cubs.

There were no little league games on Monday, so Amherst Little League continues tonight.

Y’s Guys vs. Mixers

On the Landry field it was the Y’s Guys pounding the Casey Concrete Mixers 18-1.

Nate Stone pitched for the Y’s Guys, striking out eight batters, and giving up three hits and one walk.

J.D. Pettigrew hit a triple, a double, and a single for the Y’s Guys, and Stone hit two doubles and a single.

Also hitting for the Y’s Guys was Jackson Comeau with two doubles, Aaron Sjanic and Tyler baker with one double and two singles each, Jayden Matheson with a double, and Brady Crowe, Connor Austin, Jake Adams and Anthony Hazel with one single each.

Jill Gallant pitched for the Mixers. She struck out four batters, while giving up 19 hits and walking eight batters.

Jackson Colborne hit a double and a single for the Mixers, and Reese Blakeney hit one single.
