AMHERST – Cal Hoeg hit a two-run triple as the Cumberland Paving Cubs handed the Y’s Guys their first loss of the season with a 3-2 decision in Amherst Little League Baseball A system action last night.

Ethan Casey singled for the Cubs, who sored three times in the third inning.

Brandon Hicks went the distance for the Cubs giving up five hits, walking two and striking out four.

Aaron Sjanic was equally strong on the mound for the Y’s Guys, giving up two hits, walking five and striking out 10.

Jackson Comeau singled twice for the Y’s Guys with JD Pettigrew, Jayden Matheson and Sjanic adding singles.

Cole Stevens threw a complete game three-hitter and singled twice to help his own cause as the Lions defeated the Mixers 14-3.

Stevens gave up four walks and struck out 10 while Riley Girouard, Reese Blakeney and Jackson Colborne pitched for the Mixers. They gave up 12 hits, walked 13 and struck out 10.

Michael Farrell homered and singled for the Lions while Jordan MacKenzie hit three singles and doubled. Cameron Smith singled twice and Graden Chitty and Danial MacDonald each singled once.

Dylan Jolly, Jillian Gallant and Blakeney each singled for the Mixers.

On Monday, Pettigrew and Comeau scattered six hits over six innings as the Y’s Guys nipped the Lions 6-3.

They gave up six walks and struck out 11, while Farrell and Smith pitched for the Lions. They gave up two hits, walked nine and struck out eight.

Comeau homered and Brady Crowe singled for the Y’s Guys.

Farrell singled twice for the Lions with Smith, Chitty, MacKenzie and Benji Perry each adding singles.

The Mixers scored five times in the first inning en route to a 16-4 win over the Cubs.

Gallant picked up the win on the mound for the Mixers, giving up five hits and walking six while striking out seven.

Hoeg took the loss for the Cubs, giving up 12 hits, walking eight and striking out 10.

Girouard homered once and singled twice for the Mixers while Colborne hit two singles and two doubles. Blakeney hit two singles and Landon Veno, Isaac VanSnick and Lucas Vance each singled once.

Hicks hit a pair of singles for the Cubs with Reese McLean, Mika Porter, Elliott McNutt and Ty Beed adding one single apiece.
