AMHERST – Amherst Little League action had one very close game and one blow-out.
In the close game it was the Y’s Guys beating the Casey Concrete Mixers 6-5.
Nate Stone, Aaron Sjanic and Zack Boudreau each took a turn on the mound for the Y’s Guys. They combined to strike out 11 batters, while giving up five hits and six walks.
Sjanic hit a home run for the Y’s Guys and JD Pettigrew hit a triple. Jackson Comeau, Tyler Baker and Brady Crowe hit two singles each, and Stone added one single.
Jill Gallant pitched a complete game for the Mixers. She struck out seven batters, and gave up nine hits and eight walks.
Riley Girouard hit a double and a single, and Reese Blakeney, Landen Veno and Ethan Bishop hit one single each for the Mixers.
Lions vs. Cubs
The Lions beat the Cumberland Paving Cubs 13-2.
Mat’s Stone pitched for the Lions, striking out 11 batters and giving up three hits and one walk.
Graden Chitty hit two doubles and a single for the Lions, and Stone hit one double and one single. Julian MacDonald hit two singles, and Cameron Smith, and Benji Perry hit one single each.
Cal Hoeg pitched four innings for the Cubs, striking out seven batters, while giving up seven hits and walking four Lions.
Brandon Hicks came in for the last two innings. He struck out three batters, and gave up two hits and two walks.
Mason Bird, Ethan Casey and Zack Gould hit one single each for the Cubs.
