AMHERST – Cumberland Honda United defeated the Moncton Old Boys 6-3 during Codiac Senior Soccer League action Sunday night on the Amherst Regional High School soccer field.

Honda received a red card early in the first half of the game.

“But we were able to regroup, continue to control the game, play as a team and pull out the win,” said United’s Lucas Hayes.

Derek Smith led Cumberland in the win with two goals, while Nick Wolfe, CJ Curtis, Nick Smith and John Pyke scored one goal each.

Cumberland’s season started with a 2-0 loss to The Old Triangle Friday night in Riverview.

“Greg Gilroy was our keeper and he made unbelievable saves,” said Hayes. “He kept us in the game the whole night.”
